Dougald ‘Howard’ Blue, age 75, Valley Mills, Inverness Co., passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016, in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
Born in Valley Mills, he was a son of the late Dougald James and Anna Bell (MacQuarrie) Blue. Howard worked as a survey technician for the Dept. of Transportation in Port Hawkesbury in excess of 25 years. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Government Retired Employees Association and was an adherent to Fulton Presbyterian Church, Malagawatch. Howard enjoyed fishing, boating, crossword puzzles, was an avid reader and as well was a behind the scenes supporter of the Valley Mills Fire Dept. He was on the Board of Managers for Fir Grove Cemetery and an avid supporter of the Fir Grove Cemetery and MacKenzie Cemetery. He took great interest in all of his nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.
Surviving are his brother, Ainslie Blue, Valley Mills; sisters, Marina (Gabriel) MacIntyre, Kingsville; Sadie Fee, Whycocomagh; Eleanor (Lennie) Blue Morrison, River Denys; Alexandra (Sandy MacLeod) Blue, Iron Mines; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Blue, Valley Mills; nieces, Nancy (Jamie MacIntyre) Meagher, Elizabeth (Sam Linthorne) Blue; nephews, Cecil (Krista) Blue, Sheldon (Aimee), Winston, Curtis MacIntyre, Jamie (Megan Bennett) Blue, Duncan MacLeod; five grandnephews, Liam, Noah, Mark, Connor and Kyle; two grandnieces, Hannah and Callie.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Malcolm; sister, Eleanor in infancy; brother-in-law, Joey Fee.
Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, kitchen staff, E.H.S. and Dr. LaFrance.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today (Tuesday) in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday from River Denys Presbyterian Church with Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiating assisted by Lana MacLean. Burial will follow in Fir Grove Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Fulton Presbyterian Church, Fir Grove Cemetery or to a charity of one’s choice.
