It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of John D. Gillis on June 28, 2016 at the Maple Hill Manor surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late John and Eulalia Gillis.
John D. loved riding his bike around town, reading Archie comic books, going on Sunday drives for ice cream and his car collection.
He is survived by his sisters Lois (Brian), Pauline (Greg), Ann Marie (Bobby); brothers Cameron, Kevin (Helen), Gerald (Cheryl), Stephen (Eileen), Glen (Dawn), Danny; special niece Roxann who was like a sister to John D. whom he lived with for years; uncle Jimmy and aunt Pearl who thought of John like their own son; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Charmaine in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 5-9 p.m. A chapel service will take place on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the parish hall, Convent Street, all are welcome.
