Franklin Gordon Hussey born July 1, 1943 in Sydney, Cape Breton and died July 12, 2016 Moncton, N.B.
He was the son of the late Gordon and Helen (Frye) Hussey.
Loving husband, supportive father/step-father and loyal friend passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness surrounded by many who loved him dearly. He was a man grateful for each and every day of life, considering the dawn of every morning “a bonus”.
His readiness to lend a helping hand made Frank an appreciated member of his family, church, and his community. He always took a back seat and put the needs of others in front of his own. Singing in his church choir, gardening at Spencer’s nursing home, bookkeeping for charitable organizations gave Frank’s life meaning and purpose. He was a Jack-of-all-trades and worked for the railroad for many years. He was a good athlete in his younger years and a lifelong sports enthusiast. He could rattle off sporting statistics like a champ.
Known for his quick wittedness, sense of humour, wordsmithing, incredible memory and knowledge Frank was also a passionate artist. Stained glass, photography and home projects were among his many loves. Frank created many things for us to enjoy and remember him by.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie (Gagnon); children, Karen Hussey (Greg Lloyd), London, Ont., Debra Hussey, Ottawa; stepchildren, Julia Grover-Barrey (Chris), Tucson, Arizona and Jason Grover (Megan Stever), Moncton. He will be missed by his sister, Martha Warren (Bill); four grandchildren, Aaron, Keegan, Maya and Marlee, as well as three nieces, Jackie, Barbara and Donna.
Like a good scotch (his favourite drink) Frank mellowed with age. So here’s to you Frank Hussey we love you and will miss you dearly.
A celebration of his life will take place at Mountain View United Church, MacBeath Avenue, Moncton, on Thursday July 14, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. Reception following the service.
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton (506-858-1995) in care of arrangements.
No flowers please. Donations can be made in Frank’s name to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Angel Fund or Mountain View United Church.
