Dorothy Irene Colwell Henwood
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Irene Colwell Henwood, age 93, of Springhill, NS. Dorothy passed away peacefully at the East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash in the early morning of Friday, July 15, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie (Carr) Mason.
Dorothy was a very social lady with a great sense of humor and who loved to entertain. Her friends and family and those of her children, were always welcomed into her home. Whether in need, or just looking for a friend, her doors were always open. An amazing housewife, she loved to cook, loved crafts, and enjoyed time with her family. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Oxford; member and Past Noble Grand of Lady Minto Rebekah Lodge # 23; Past Deputy District President and Past President of the District Association in the Rebekah Lodge.
She will be sadly missed by son, Alexander (Dale) Colwell, Calgary; daughters, Juanita Maddison, Springhill, Pearl (Lou McGregor) Rochon, New Glasgow, Margaret (Dale) Konschuk, Creston-Erickson, BC and Marion (Larry) McLellan, Oxford; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; step-children and step grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband David H. Colwell and by her second husband Thornton Henwood; two granddaughters and one great granddaughter; four infant brothers and sister Beryl (Walter) McLaughlin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at A H Brown Funeral Home on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2 pm. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
