Mabel Blake (nee Hedderson) passed away on July 8, 2016 at the age of 79 years. Along with her twin sister Millie, Mabel was born, the last of ten children, to Sarah (Patey) and George Hedderson of Straitsview. On January 24, 1956 she married Carson Blake of Straitsview and together they raised four children and were blessed with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her sons Cyril (Barbara), and George (Sandra); daughters Christine (Wilfred), and Norma (Dallas); sister Millie; sisters-in-law Mae and Nellie Hedderson; grandchildren Jennifer (Neil), Dustin (Charlene), Mitch (Angel), Christopher, Cameron, and Maria; great-grandchildren Keira, Eric, Frederick, Shelby, and Kenzie; special friend Francis Blake as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Mabel was predeceased by her husband Carson in 1996, and by her brothers Augustus, Willis, Gordon, Ed, Sisters Eliza, Irene, Vida, and Florie. Visitation was held at Central United Church on Quirpon branch from where the funeral was held on Monday, July 11 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Interment followed in the Quirpon Community Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.
