The family of Thomas William Landry age 69 of Amherst are sadden to announce his passing on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan.
Born in Amherst, he was the son of William and Margaret (Gamble) Landry.
Tommy worked since he was 19 years old. His first job was with Chapman Brothers and later worked for Kelly LeBlanc driving a taxi and ambulance. After that he was a long time employee of Doug’s Taxi until he started his own taxi business called Landry’s Taxi and enjoyed every minute of it.
He had a passion for country music and dancing. He liked to play darts, cards, pool, golf and fishing. Tommy loved his faithful fury friend Tigger who died a few months ago. He was a friend everyone and was always willing to help them when he could.
He leaves to mourn his wife Linda; 2 daughters Cheryl (Donald) White of Hastings and Brandy Landry of Amherst; 6 grandchildren Samantha, Chelsey, Tori, Bryson, Brooklyn and Brady; 3 great grandchildren Carson, Marshall and Aliyah; 2 step children Diane and Dawn, half-sister Betty Ann (Kevin) Boss of Amherst ; stepmother Francis Gauthreau of Amherst and several nieces and nephews.
Tommy was predeceased by his first wife of 30 years, Evelyn (Smith); sister Lois Farrow and brother Billy.
Visitation was held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-9906)
Funeral service was held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 2 p.m. from Campbell’s Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter or the Beecham Road Cemetery, Amherst Head.
