It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Ross Crewe, on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at St. Joseph Auxiliary Hospital in Edmonton Alberta with his family by his side. Ross was born in North Sydney on May, 18, 1927; he was the son of the late Frank and Stella (Holmes) Crewe. He was employed with the Cape Breton Post for a number of years and later with Canada Revenue Agency, working in the Sydney office until his retirement. Ross was a faithful member of St. Mathew Wesley United Church along with the Mens Club. He was a member of The Royal Albert Masonic Lodge and of Seaview Golf and Country Club.
Ross is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth (Betty) (Jackson) Edmonton, sons David Ross, Edmonton, Frank Sidney of North Sydney, and sisters Allison (Lou) McKay, Jean (Malcolm) Boyd, and Betty (Gary) Boutilier.
Besides his parents, Ross was predeceased by his brothers Fraser, Frank and grandson Frank. Visitation for Ross will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the W.J.Dooley Funeral Home 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at St. Mathew Wesley United Church, North Sydney with Rev. Nancy Ritchie officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Masons are asked to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday evening for a service that will begin at 6:45 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to your charity of choice.
