With great sadness and heavy hearts we, the family, of Ted Chipman, age 82, regret to announce his passing on August 5, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene (Moore); daughters, Donna (Roy) Richardson, Darlene Gouthro, Kimberly (Joe) Poirier and son, Teddy (Amanda). He has been blessed with grandchildren, Nicole, Alicia (Rob), Joey (Natasha), Robyne (Kristen), Garret (Tonicha), Brady, Rylan; great-grandchildren, Emily, Alex, Peyton, Kaleb, Ashlynn and Ryder. Ted is also survived by his brothers, Tom, Ray (Marie), Brian (Lynn) and sister, Helen (Hubert) Chiasson; brothers-in-law, Ernie Bishop, Ray Eldridge, Albert (Pearl) Moore; sister-in-law, Mae Dawe as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was predeceased by his parents, Azariah (Roy) and Blanche (Bobbitt) Chipman; stepmother, Eva (Green) Chipman-Lushman; brothers, Ben, Wal, Jack, Eddy, Hardy; sisters, Mary, Diane, Bev, Alma and brother-in-law, Cecil Dawe. Ted was a dedicated and hardworking coal miner of 37 years. He worked at various mines in New Waterford and surrounding areas until his retirement in 1989. Ted enjoyed camping, hunting and many fishing trips with his brother, Brian and brother-in-law, Hubert. He also enjoyed working in his garage during his retirement, woodworking and working on cars. Ted was a kind hearted and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who believed family was number one. At the request of Ted, cremation has taken place and no visitation will be held, a private service will be at a later date.
