LYNDA COFFIN

LYNDA COFFIN

Passed on: August 5th, 2016

Lynda ‘Maureen’ Coffin, age 64, of Havre Boucher, NS, (formerly of Sydney), passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters, on Friday, August 5th, after courageously and gracefully fighting her fourth and final battle with cancer. A skilled knitter, Moe could whip up a pair of mittens in no time, nearly as fast as she could devour a good book. When she didn't have her hands wrapped in yarn, she was often found in the kitchen mixing up something delicious and in more recent years, passing on the secrets of her best baked goods and homemade pizza to her grandchildren. She was a best friend to her daughters, like a sister to her friends and made her house a home in which friends felt they were part of her family. She was happiest when surrounded by her girls and made that known to all until the very end. She was the ‘best nanny ever’ to Ava, Ethan and Owen and she had an unlimited supply of love to share as the family grew larger with each grandchild. Maureen will be dearly missed by daughters, Tiffany (Denivaldo), Audrey (Tom) and Lori-Anne; brothers Roger, Harry (Stella), Paul (Ann), Gordon (Sandy) and sister Roberta; grandchildren Ava, Ethan and Owen, as well as her many nieces and nephews. Moe is lovingly remembered by her five Coffin sisters-in-law and was dearly loved by her father and mother-in-law, Vinnie and Dougie, who embraced her as their sixth daughter. Maureen will also be missed by the lifelong best friends she leaves behind, Carolyn and Liz (Gigi). Maureen was predeceased by husband, David; parents, Audrey Tulloch and Harry Black and a son David, who died in infancy. A special thanks to VON and the St. Martha's Regional Hospital Palliative Care team who provided such excellent support and made it possible for her to enjoy her final months at home and to the many close neighbours and friends who paid visits and brought treats for her to enjoy. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Havre Boucher Community Centre on Sunday, August 14th from 2-4 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Cathy's Place Cancer Resouce Room at Saint Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Messages to the family may be conveyed at www.greensfuneralhome.ca.
