Albert Boudreau

Albert Patrick Boudreau, was born in Cheticamp, then moved to Sydney at a young age. He was the son of the late Alexander ‘Sandy’ and Mary Ann (AuCoin) Boudreau. Albert passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the age of 82.
He is survived by daughter, Denise (David), Calgary AB; sons, Paul (Pauline), Dartmouth, Emile (Catherine Deveau), Elmsdale, Marcel (Louise), Halifax; grandchildren, Stephen, Benjamin, Patricia, Nicholas, Christopher; siblings, Isabel, Cheticamp, Henry and Eddie Joe, both of Waltham, Mass. and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Irene (nee Shomph); sisters, Jeannette, Alice and brothers, Eugene, Wilfred and Denis. Albert was very proud of his Acadian heritage. He worked for MT&T for 33 years and enjoyed a long retirement. He was involved in scouting for many years culminating in his role as District Commissioner. Albert taught First Aid for many years. He enjoyed skating, swimming, hiking, travelling, dancing, horseback riding, square dancing and RVing for many years with Irene. He was a charter member of the Bluenose RV Squares C182 which included many of these activities. Special thanks to Sandra, Pauline and Viola who cared for him like family, along with the VON Day Program and home support, the Palliative Care Team/Unit at CBRH and all the medical staff who have helped him reach his 82 years of age. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the VON Day Program, Canadian Diabetic Association, Alzheimer's Society Canada or charity of choice. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
