LANGTHORNE, Stanley Leroy – age 87 of Veterans Place, Yarmouth N.S. passed away at Veterans Place on August 11, 2016. Born on December 31, 1928 he was the son of the late Bernard and Ruby Langhorne of Argyle. Stanley served in the Royal Canadian Signal Corp for 20 years and saw service in the Korean War and the far north in Canada. He then joined the Communication Security Establishment in Ottawa for another 15 years. After retiring he moved to Yarmouth Co., NS where he lived in Pleasant Valley for 24 years. He leaves behind his wife Margaret (Farrow); daughter, Parazanda (Pierre) Valois of Edmonton; Trina (Shane) Griese of Ottawa; and sister, Marjorie (Burton) Roberts of Yarmouth; grandchildren, Joseph (Deni) Valois; Sarah (Edward) Lee; plus 3 great grandchildren all of Edmonton. Besides his parents Stanley was predeceased by his sisters, Ruby (George) Thomas, Ruth (Charles) Rines, Myrtle (Lawrence) Hurlburt, and Parazanda (Warren) Gould. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A military funeral will be held in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on August 30, 2016 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Mike Cannell officiating. Interment will take place in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church or Veterans Place in Yarmouth.
