It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of our beloved partner, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Gordon Henry Clevett, in his 96th year, on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Northside General Hospital with his loving family by his side. Gordon was born October 16, 1919, in Rose Blanche, Newfoundland, and was the son of the late William and Harriet (Burke) Clevett. He was employed as a stevedore and later as assistant steward with C.N. Marine until his retirement after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney and the Sydney Mines Seniors and Pensioners Club. Gordon loved bowling and enjoyed seniors bowling, Sydney Mines.
Gordon leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his partner Theresa MacDonald, his children, Marlene (Joseph) Barron, William (Diane) Clevett, John (Helen) Clevett, his grandchildren, Joey Barron, Jason Barron, John Barron, William Clevett, Jeffrey Clevett, Sarah Clevett-Bruce and Shawna Lamothe. Great grandchildren, Rodney, Brady and Samantha Bruce and Gio Barron, his sister, Mabel (Ken) Lemoine, Port Aux Basques.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah (Wells) Clevett, his brothers and sisters, Grace (Felix) Hatcher, Andrew (Ella) Clevett, Charles (Miria) Clevett, Shirley (Henry) Hardy, Ralph (Ethel) Clevett and infant sister, Nina Clevett. The family would like to thank Dr. John Kirkpatrick, the nurses of 4 West Floor of the Northside General Hospital and all of Gordon’s friends who made his last few days comfortable. Visitation for Gordon will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 24th, at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. Interment will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery, Johnston Road, North Sydney.
