It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marie (Gouthro) Getz, 56, on Tuesday August 23, 2016, at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. Born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Mary (Boyd) Gouthro. Marie was a dedicated military wife working at various Sears locations until a posting in Israel. There she travelled extensively and worked at the Canadian Embassy in Tel Aviv. She retired with her husband in Glace Bay where she spent time planning future trips and making delicious pinterest meals. Survived by her husband, Stephen of 34 years; son, Kenneth (Sarah); daughter, Stephanie (Nick); brother, Lonnie (Melody); sisters, Leone (Craig) and Lisa (Darrin); granddaughter, Kamryn; mother-in-law, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Jon) and Alicia (Eric); brother-in-law, David (Martina) and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay (902) 849-4199. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. in T. J. Tracey Memorial Chapel, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
