Bonnie Elizabeth, age 63 of Swift Current, SK passed away on August 23, 2016 at The Meadows in Swift Current, SK. The Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from St. Stephan's Anglican Church with Reverend Jonathan Hoskin officiating. Honorary pallbearers were her grand-children: Roark, Barret and Grayson Leisle and Logan and Olivia O'Neil. The Internment Service took place from Mount Pleasant Burial Park Columbarium. Bonnie is survived by her husband Barry; daughter Amy (Blaine) O'Neil of Regina, SK; son Michael (Cassandra Wells) Leisle of Swift Current; grandchildren Roark, Barret and Grayson Leisle and Logan and Olivia O'Neil; mother Ada Jean Checkley; brothers Bill and Craig Checkley; sisters Brenda (Grant) Osaduik, Lynette Wallace, and Shauna Checkley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father Russell Checkley; and sister Donna (Allen) Steinhauer. Bonnie was born on April 19, 1953. She attended elementary and high school in Chaplin, SK. She married Barry Leisle on October 23, 1972 in Chaplin. Bonnie worked at the Shrimp plant in Chaplin before she and Barry were married. She was a homemaker and helped in all aspects of running the farm as a supportive wife and loving mother. Bonnie was a charter member of the Ernfold Lioness Club, she curled, did ceramics and was an avid reader. Bonnie's pride and joy were her children. She did everything for her kids and provided them with strength and values they have carried through to pass on to her grandchildren. She loved to garden and bake and always made sure meals were shared as a family at the table. Anyone remembering Bonnie will instantly mention her infectious giggle, her smile, her sense of humor, and the sparkle in her eyes. She loved to be surrounded by friends and family.
