It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Jenetta Elizabeth Chappell, age 97, of Amherst, formerly of Chapman Settlement, NS. Jenetta passed away peacefully at the East Cumberland Lodge in Pugwash on Friday, August 26, 2016.
Born in Amherst Shore, NS, she was a daughter of the late Austin and Jennie (Ogden) Chapman.
She was an adherent of Trinity St. Stephen's United Church. Jenetta was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, working beside her husband in the strawberry and blueberry fields and helping her son operate Davey's Canteen in Chapman Settlement for several summers. A special memory for all the young people of the area and that time.
Her pleasant smile and quiet, kind, happy demeanor will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jenetta is sadly missed by her brothers, Willard Chapman, Allen (Florence) Chapman, nephew Douglas (Ferne) Chapman, all of Amherst Shore, NS; brother-in-law Ross Chappell, Moncton, NB; several nieces and nephews as well as special friends Betty Crossman, Sylvia Carter and many others.
She was predeceased by her husband Ronald; son, David; and infant son Silver Austin; nephew Phillip Chapman; sister-in-law Jennie W. Chapman.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777), where visiting hours will take place on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 1 pm until 2 pm, followed immediately at 2 pm by the funeral service in the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Ruth Gamble, DLM officiating. Following a reception in the funeral home reception room, burial will take place in the Lorneville United Church Cemetery.
