Peacefully at the Riverview Manor the passing of Catherine “Kay” MacKenzie (nee Munroe) age 97 of Montague formerly of Lyndale and Cardigan, devoted wife of the late Rev. H. Lincoln MacKenzie occurred on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Born in Lyndale, PE on July 20, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Murdock and Mary Jane (MacKenzie) Munroe. Kay is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Kay had a long love of music, playing the fiddle, guitar and harmonica. At the age of ten she was taught by her father, playing at many house parties and dances while growing up. Many who knew her enjoyed the tune, the story, the humour and positive nature and the occasional step dance. She loved fishing trout from many streams and shores. Her memories will always remain and be greatly missed by many lives she touched. She is survived by nieces and nephews Jerry (Sharon) McCarty of Yonkers, NY, Walter (Eileen deceased) McCarty of States Island, NY, and Rita (Pat) Hegarty of Dumont NJ. Kay is predeceased by sisters Christina Munroe, Florence (Munroe) McCarty and brother George Munroe. Resting at Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home with visiting on Friday, September 2nd from 4 to 7 p.m. A private family service and interment to take place at a later date.
