It is with great sadness that the family of the late Austin "Oscar" Rideout announce his passing at the Sunnybrook Hospital in North York, ON on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the age of 78 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Elva Rideout; daughter: Evelyn (Todd); sons: Bill (Bernadine), Darrell (Kathy) and Byron (Judy); grandchildren: Matthew, Eric, Neal, Gillian, Christopher, Jeremy, and Jenelle; great-grandchildren: Sarah, Jacob and Jack; sister Linda (Wayne) Brake; brothers: Mervin (Lorraine) and Caywood (Dora); brother-in-law Raymond (Darlene); sisters-in-law: Adelaide (Terry), Barbara (Henry), Evangeline, Leila, and Marlene; family pet Chrissy; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Ivy (nee Vatcher) in 2010; father Bruce Rideout Sr.; brother Rodney Bruce and sister Evelyn Cake (Fred); mother and father-in-law William and Vera May Vatcher; brothers-in-law: Oscar, Clayton, Norman, and Gerald; and two family pets Misty and Missy. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Sunday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place from the Country Haven Funeral Chapel on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Major Ed Barrow officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Bay of Islands SPCA.
