The death of Helen A. O'Brien, 89, of Lower River Hebert occurred on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, after a brief illness. Born in Flushing, NY, Helen was a daughter of the Late Maynard and Ethel (Steele) Goodwin.
Helen was very talented and enjoyed crafts, cake decorating, crocheting, and quilting. She was loving, kind, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother.
Helen will be sadly missed by her daughter Deb Carde of Lower River Hebert, NS, as well as several grandchildren, great-granchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Harris O'Brien Sr., her son, James; her daughter, Barbara White; her son in law, Conrad Carde; a granddaughter, Helen White; sisters; Dorothy, Lillian and Isabel, and brothers; Emerson, Harold and Douglas.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, River Hebert, NS (902-667-8777). There will be a graveside service at 11 am on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert.
Donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
