It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Laurnice Walsh on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 11, 1969 in North Sydney, she was the daughter of Agnes (MacDonald) Walsh and the late Bernard Walsh. Laurnice attended Gannon Road School, later was employed as an office secretary at MSCL Micropublishing in Scarborough, Ontario for several years. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and of St. Joseph Parish in North Sydney. Laurnice was an avid bingo player. She is survived by her mother, Agnes, Northside Guest Home; her daughter, Magdalene (Chris Boutilier), North Sydney; her two brothers, Ricky (Nancy) Walsh, North Sydney, Perry (Brenda) Walsh, Ft. McMurray; by her special aunt and godmother, Mary Boyd and godfather, Edgar Clarke as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Sadie and Alex Walsh and her maternal grandparents, Stephen and Madeline MacDonald.
Visitation for Laurnice will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in North Sydney, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
