It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of George Vincent Hubert Sr. On Sept 11, 2016. Born in Sydney, on Aug 6, 1930, George was the only child of the late Amilia (Richards) and Stanley Hubert. George was a hardworking man, for most of his career he was a truck driver, then later went on to retire from the CBRM as a mechanic. While always wanting to keep busy, George could often be found wood working in the basement, or throughout the block where he and his friends would get together and work on projects. His quick wit and great sense of humour made George someone you wanted to be around. George is survived by his loving wife, Viola (Long); daughter, Judy Terry; sons, George Jr. and Keith, the light of his life; his granddaughter, Karla Terry (Leagh Cull); also 3 grandsons, John David, Steven, and Arthur Jr. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Joyce, Rosie (Jim), Leona (Joe), Colleen (Ernie) and Barb Long, also brothers-in-law, Lloyd, Kenny (Denise), Bobby and Leo (Wallina). Besides his parents, George is predeceased by sons, John and Arthur; sisters-in-law, Shirley, Marg, Dollie, Janice and Ann Marie and brothers-in-law, Roy, Jackie, Arthur, Wallie, Adrian, and Eddie. As per George’s wishes there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Thursday Sept 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., with Fr. Bill Burke Officiating. With reception to follow. Family flowers only, donations in George’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
