CYRIL CORMIER

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our brother who passed Sept.12, 2016. Cyril was one of 11 children born on Jan. 30, 1943, in New Waterford, N.S. to Henry and Kathleen (Desveaux) Cormier, now deceased. He was predeceased by his partner of 52 years, Donne Aherne (April 2015). He is survived by his sister, Jenny (Elmer) Currie, Lenora (Stu) Morrison, Simone (Len) Baglole, Kathleen, Philip (Pat), Robert (Janie), Willie, Bernie (Kathy), Paul Kevin (Valerie), Pauline (Vernon) Burke and many nieces and nephews. Cyril started his career in fashion and design in Toronto in 1961. Over the 40 years of his career he worked with private designers, he taught at various colleges and design schools and finished his career at CBC in Toronto, retiring in 1995. Cyril will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all of his family, friends, and acquaintances here and abroad. We were all touched by Cyril’s sense of humour, kindness, generosity and were awed by his creativity and sharp wit. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held in Cape Breton at a later date.
