ANDREW – Albert with heavy hearts the family of Albert Arthur Andrew are saddened to announce his peaceful passing on September 15, 2016 in Swift Current. He was born to Hazel and Charles Andrew on April 22, 1934 in Rimbey, Alberta. Albert helped his dad farming for 18 years; going to Andrew Country School for 8 years and attended high school in Eckville, Alberta for 4 years. His working years from 1953-1994 were spent in the oilfield, being a battery operator for 15 years and a production foreman for 26 years. His spare time in Wainwright was spent raising purebred Saler cattle. After retiring and selling the farm in 1994 they moved to Saskatoon for 3 years and then to Swift Current in 1997 for the remainder of his life. Al married Marlene McLachlan on June 27, 1974 in Swift Current and together they raised sons David and Doug. They relocated to Wainwright in 1975 where the boys completed their schooling and worked with their dad on the farm. Al enjoyed fishing a lot especially with the boys. Al is survived by his loving wife Marlene, son David and daughter-in-law Sherri of Saskatoon, granddaughter Ashley of Regina, son Doug and daughter-in-law Rose of Toronto. Sisters Evelyn (Frank) Brown, Irene Leach of Red Deer and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his brother Bill and sister-in-law June. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Swift Current SPCA in keeping with Al’s love for animals. The family would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the wonderful and compassionate staff at Cypress House for their kind and loving care given to Al over the past year.
