She leaves behind to mourn daughters Dawn (Gordon) Dick, Lesley (Barry) Kowbel, Marsha (Craig) Van Buskirk, Shannon (Brad) Klassen; grandchildren Reuben Dick, Phedra Milne, Rachel Kowbel, Alexis (Aron) Turgeon, Jessica Van Buskirk, Lori (Marlon) Shaw Dyck, Courtney (Dave) Burley, Keagan Lockwood, Braeden and Chelsea Klassen; great grandchildren Victor Turgeon, Dayton and Bretta Dyck, Taryn and Aemelia Burley; sisters in-law Beatrice Murdock, Brownie Weppler and Barbara Fech; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband Bob, son Robert, daughter Tracy and siblings Edgar, Gordon, Maxine and Doug. Helen was born at home, delivered by her maternal grandmother, on June 16, 1925 to Gladys and Edgar Best. She attended public school at Donnellyville up to Grade 10. She worked as a housekeeper for a couple of years before starting work as a telephone operator for the Morse Rural Telephone Company. She married Robert Murdock October 12, 1946 and moved to the farm north of Glen Kerr. Together there they raised five daughters, Dawn, Lesley, Marsha, Tracy and Shannon, and mourned the loss of one son, Robert. In 1986 they sold the farm and retired to Swift Current where Helen continued to immerse herself in sewing and helping Bob with his woodworking. Helen was involved in numerous organizations over the years – Glen Kerr Homemakers Club, Glen Kerr 4H, Morse United Church, Morse and Swift Current Order of the Royal Purple, Cypress Hills Community College and the Herbert-Morse Home Care Service. Helen enjoyed sewing, upholstery, crocheting, knitting, and bowling. Never one to be idle she completed her grade 12 GED in 1976 and into her 80’s could be found at the local gym working out. Those who knew and loved her will miss our little blonde energizer bunny. In lieu of flowers and cards, donations in Helens memory can be made to the Herbert Heritage Manor or the Log Valley Cemetery (c/o Bill Potts, Morse, SK S0H 3C0).
