George Henry Turton

George Turton passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Herb Basset Home in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 89. He was born in Carlyle, SK on May 26, 1927 the eldest son of Robert and Emily Turton. George took over the family farm at the age of 20 when his father passed away, helping his mother raise the five younger siblings. He was also the neighborhood veterinarian and handyman for the community. Left to mourn are his siblings: Daisy May Goddard, Duncan (Lucy) Turton, Ralph Norman (Elizabeth) Turton and Jessie Gladys Corrigal; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Robert Henry Turton (1947) and Emily Jane Turton (Duffey) (1984); his sisters Muriel, Lily, Ruby, Ada, Eva and Hope (in infancy); grandniece Kathryn Mae McRury (1983 at 8 ½ months); brothers Ronald and Ira; brothers-in-law Edgar, Alex, Art Dennis, Art Colten, Douglas, Otto, Irving Goddard, Calvin Goddard, Henry Kretchmann and Ross Corrigal; as well as aunts and uncles. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Susan Salo officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Herb Bassett Home (Golden Hill Pod). Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
