VOGHEL, Mary Aileen “Joyce” – age 85 of Berwick, Kings Co., passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at home. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Toney) Hampsey. Joyce was the wife of the late Armand Voghel and lived in Germany, Quebec, Greenwood, Alberta and returned to Berwick in 1978. She had worked at Venta Nursing Home (Edmonton, Alta.) for four years and at Grand View Manor (Berwick) for 14 years, retiring in 1993. Joyce was a volunteer for the Berwick Citizens Advocacy Group for several years. She was a member of the Girl Guides of Canada for 50 years, Hardwood Lake Trefoil Guild, and the Catholic’s Women’s League for 50 years. Joyce was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish (Berwick) and the Valley Cursillo Movement. She was a respected Elder of Annapolis Valley First Nation. Joyce had a great love for travelling and camping. She is survived by her children, David (Sylvia), Crystal (Kevin), Allen, Monique, Paula (Wade); grandchildren, Andrew, Colin, Kira, Zeppelin, Nicholas, Janine, Sidney and Delaney; her brothers, John (Norma), Lawrence and Eric (John); sister, Theresa; sister-in-law, Carol. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brother, Patrick; brother-in-law, Victor. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m., Friday, September 16, in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 120 Mill St., Berwick, from where the funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 17. Rev. Fr. Craig Cameron officiated, and a reception followed in the Parish Centre. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Anthony’s Music Ministry.
