Harry James (Jim) Edgar was born on June 13, 1943 at Tuberose, SK. to Samuel and Agnes Edgar. He lived on the family farm and attended school at Elmont until 1955, then moved to Kyle with his family, where he finished his education. He then returned to the family farm to farm with his brother Laverne until 2009, when he retired from active farming. Jim and Marliss made their move to Kyle to the Southview Apartments in November, 2015. Soon after, Jim was unable to remain at home, due to his declining health, and in April of 2016 he moved to the Kyle Health Care Centre until his passing on September 23, 2016, due to kidney failure and Parkinson’s disease. Jim is survived by his wife, Marliss (Closs) of 54 years, children Shelly (Rob) Cozine, and Trevor (Debbie) Edgar. Grandchildren, Carter, Carson and Connor Edgar. Sisters - Irma (Doug) Dyrland and Shirley (Ron) Barge; Brother - Cecil (Donelda) Smith; Brother-in-law Larry (Lynda) Closs and many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents Samuel & Agnes Edgar; brother Laverne Smith, sister Rose and Bud Hogue; father and mother-in-law Harold and Velma Closs; nephew Greg Dyrland; great nephew Colin Dixon; and great niece Jennifer Dixon. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Kyle Elks & Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. Jim MacNaughton officiating. The organist was Darlene Smith and the congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace". Janet Wills shared the Words of Remembrance, ushers were Laine Jordheim and Randy Gunderson and register attendants were Richard and Janet Wills. Urn bearers were Jim's grandsons Carter, Carson and Connor and honourary bearers were all those who shared in Jim's life, especially those who helped him in the last six years.
