With heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Edith Lorraine Munn, age 98, on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Alder Point on October 17, 1917, Edith was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Bonner) Plant. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of St. Columba United Church and also a member of the U.C.W. She was a past member of the North Sydney Historical Society and the Northside Artists Association. She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Brown (Melvin Keeping) and her son, Glen Munn, both of North Sydney; her grandchildren, Michael Munn, Sydney, Missie Brown, Halifax, Andrew Brown (Katelyn), North Sydney, Nikki Brown (Matt), Halifax and one great-grandson, Liam Kenneth and also a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John ‘Jack’ Munn; her sisters, Audrey MacQueen, Verna MacGillivary and her brother, James Plant.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Northside Community Guest Home. To honour a lady who loved to treat others and appreciated a little treat herself, we ask that you treat a family member or a friend. Have a meal, a coffee, or treat someone to a visit…whatever would brighten someone's day as she did for all of us.
There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A graveside committal in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com.
