It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, poppy, brother, uncle and friend Lloyd “Muzzy” Hogan on October 7, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 82. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Frank and Eliza (Sheppard) Hogan. A lifelong resident of “The Lake” in New Victoria, he was affectionately known as “The mayor of the lake”. In his earlier days, he worked as a construction worker, then later a proud Cape Breton coal miner. He took great pride in gardening, yard work, growing grapes, the family bonfires, and was “the number one Montreal Canadians fan” making numerous trips to watch his Habs play and was also a season ticket holder of the Cape Breton Oilers and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Muzzy had a great affection for his dogs Lady and Patches. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Theresa (Simms) Hogan; children, Teddy (Linda); Fran (David) Morgan, Gerald (Shirley), Sharon(Brian) Rideout, Elliot, John “Chipper”, Courtney and Amanda (Steven) Hodge; sister, Marjorie (Bobby Aucoin); sisters-in-law, Donna Burke and Pauline Hogan; brother-in-law, John Pegg; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.Besides his parents, Muzzy was pre-deceased by his loving son, Jimmy; his siblings, Lorraine, Fran, Sue, Geraldine, Mary “Booie”, Clarence “Boisey”, Michael “Mikey” and a brother in infancy. Muzzy was a real social butterfly who could strike up a conversation with anyone. He will be missed and remembered by a large circle of friends. His family was everything to him and he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rest in peace Poppy
