Hoegg, Hilda Hazel, Halifax passed away Tuesday October 11, 2016 in the QE11 Health Science Centre.
Born in Stellarton to parents Hugh and Beatrice (Frampton).
Hilda was a graduate of Stellarton High School and the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing, placing fourth in the Nova Scotia in the RN examinations. Upon graduation, Hilda joined the staff of the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital in Kentville, from there to Prince George District Hospital in British Columbia and the University Hospital in Edmonton and Welland County General Hospital in Ontario.
Always interested in continuing education, Hilda received a Diploma in Nursing Education from the University of Western Ontario in London and a Diploma in Effective Supervision and Management from Niagara College in Welland. Hilda also received formal acknowledgement from Dalhousie University as a teaching preceptor.
Hilda spent twenty-five years at Port Colborne General Hospital teaching and in Administration as Director of In-service Education. Returning to Nova Scotia, Hilda was four years at Kings-Edgehill as resident nurse and teaching grades 7-8 and 9 and later retired from nursing at Camp Hill Hospital, Halifax.
Hilda was a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario, Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia and Ontario respectively, and Alumni of the University of Western Ontario and Aberdeen Hospital.
Hilda enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of the Halifax Bridge Club.
Hilda is survived by brothers John Hugh, Stellarton; R.A. “Tim”, Truro; and sister Margie Fraser, West River Station; several nieces and nephew.
Besides her parents, Hilda was predeceased by a sister Rebecca ”Bess” and husband C.G. “Irish” Brennan, brother Robert “Bob” and wife Betty (Dunlop) Hoegg, sister-in-law Lillian (wife of John), Gladys, wife of Tim, brother-in-law Birt Fraser, husband of Margie, nephews David Hoegg and Bobby Hoegg, children of Tim and Gladys, niece Nancy Hoegg, child of Bob and Betty Hoegg, a nephew David Fraser, child of Margie and the late Birt Fraser, and most recently by nephew-in-law, Jimmy Johnson. Hilda was also predeceased by long time friend, Jim Calarco, Welland, Onatrio.
Hilda was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton and attended Trinity Anglican Church, where she was an active member until her illness.
Her family would like to thank Rev. Keristen Wells and Rev. Leonard for their prayers and visits. We also wish to thank the amazing staff on 6.2- their care and compassion was unbelievable.
As Hilda wished, there will be no visitation. A private service for family and invited quests will be held 11am Saturday from Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton with Rev. Darlene Jewers presiding. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall.
