SIMMONS - Glenn was born in Unity in 1921. During WWII he joined the Allied Forces at the age of 17. He was stationed in Britain, France, Germany and Italy until an injury had him convalescing in England until the end of the war. Before Glenn was injured, he fell in love with Elizabeth Adams and during his leave they were married in Edinborough, Scotland where Elizabeth was from. Their son John was born in Scotland and soon after mother and son immigrated to Canada on board the Queen Mary. The family of three settled in North Battleford were Glenn had family. In the years to follow Kelvin, Arlea and Gary were born. Glenn eventually transferred to Wadena and then Kuroki to work for the Co-operative Association in those communities. He worked for Canada Post as Post Master in Kuroki until his retirement. After his retirement, they enjoyed travelling and camping at the lake. They went on trips to Alaska, Ottawa, Quebec, Atlantic City and the Maritime provinces. The Simmons’ family reunions were events that he looked forward to and catching up with his siblings and their families. He loved to garden and work in his yard and if you were searching for him that’s where he could always be found. Their yard in Kuroki was always well-known for being in immaculate shape and he was known to use a level when trimming his hedges. They eventually moved out of Kuroki to Moose Jaw and a short time after that they moved to Swift Current to be closer to their family. Glenn was first and foremost a family man. His greatest joy in life was the time he was able to spend with his family. He enjoyed quiet times with his family surrounding him.
