Glenda Barkhouse (O'Neil)

BARKHOUSE, Glenda Lynn (O'Neil)– 63, of Port Lorne passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Middleton, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Gwen (Strudwick) O'Neil. Glenda was an avid reader, loved to write poetry and enjoyed organizing family get togethers. She travelled to England twice to visit her mum's homeland, and enjoyed meeting her family from across the pond. Glenda had many fond memories of those trips. Over the years she volunteered with the Port Lorne Ladies Auxiliary as well as the Port Lorne Canada Day committee. The light of her life was her grandchildren, who will miss her dearly. Glenda is survived by her daughter Tammy Ewing-Taylor (Hilliard), Port Lorne; sons Terry Gibson, Port Lorne and Tom Gibson, Aylesford; grandchildren Shania Taylor and Theoren Taylor, Port Lorne, and Mark Veinotte, Kentville; sisters Annie Peitzsche (John), Goldboro; Barbara Sabean, Port Lorne and Judy Selig (Willie), Tatamagouche. She is predeceased by her brother-in-law Joe Sabean. As per Glenda's wishes cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at the ICU at Valley Regional Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. Cornish and nurse Giselle, for the comfort provided to our mother during her illness, and the comfort and support to her family. A special thank you to the nursing staff at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital for the compassion you showed to Glenda during her many visits. Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you. Until we meet again. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448.
