Annie MACASKILL

Annie MacAskill 82, of Fergusons Lake Richmond Co., passed away peacefully on Wed. October 19, 2016 in Strait Richmond Hospital.
Born in Lake Uist (Loch Lomond) she was the daughter of the late Ernest & Victoria (Mombourquette) Mariner. Predeceased by her husband Dan MacAskill, brother, William Mariner; sister, Isabell Young; daughter- in- law, Kathy Morton MacAskill and granddaughter, Norma Lynn Sutherland.
Remembered with love and affection by her sons, Donnie Mariner (Theresa), John MacAskill and Blair MacAskill; daughters, Heather Lelacheur, Bonnie Sutherland (Fraser) Norma Martell, (Keith); grandchildren, Andrea, Pamela, Amanda, Heather, Danielle, Robert, Daniel, David, Kate, Sarah, Cody & Scott. Blessed also with seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Annie was a long serving member of Grand River Presbyterian Church and played the organ for the three congregations of Grand River, Framboise and Loch Lomond.
She loved music and singing in the church choir, her beautiful voice being heard at many funerals and Christmas services. She could also be counted on for a lively rendition of the Ryan's Fancy song ' By the bright silvery light of the Moon’. Annie was blessed with many friends along life's journey, being referred to as Annie Mariner, Annie Margaret and Nanny River. A celebration of Annie's life will be held at Grand River Presbyterian Church on Sunday, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Corrie Stewart and Pastor Kevin Richardson presiding. Burial to follow in Ferguson's Lake Cemetery. Donations can be made to Cape Breton Cancer Center.
The family would like to thank; the staff of Strait Richmond Hospital and Cape Breton Cancer center for their kindness in caring for Annie these past few weeks. Also to her son Blair and all those caring for elders in their own homes, you are the true heroes.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
