Lillie A (nee McCormick) Macdonald of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the age of 97 years.
Born in Rodney, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Annie (nee Lowe) (McCormick) Stonehouse, of Springhill, Nova Scotia.
She was a graduate of the Springhill School system, a 1940 graduate of the former Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing and an active member of the Alumnae Association, as well as a life member of the Pictou County Branch of the R.N.A.N.S., the Golden Link Rebekah Lodge #2, New Glasgow since 1946 where she had served as Past Noble Grand. She was a member of the Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton.
Lillie was a valued member of the Aberdeen Hospital staff up until her retirement in 1983. She moved to Calgary, Alberta in July 2006 to be closer to her family.
She is survived by a son, Borden (Edris) Macdonald of Hickory, North Carolina; daughter Terry (Kenneth) Boyce, of Calgary, Alberta; grandsons Gregory (Deborah) Macdonald of Dundas, Ontario; Larry (Virginia) Macdonald of Toronto, Ontario; Jeffrey (Cyndy) Boyce of Strathmore, Alberta; Jared (Andrea) Boyce of Calgary, Alberta; Ryan (Kim) Boyce of Onoway, Alberta; granddaughters Cheryl Macdonald (Matt Matchett) of Moncton, New Brunswick and Lise (Trevor) Nagle of Moncton, New Brunswick; great grandchildren, Davis and Carter Macdonald of Dundas, Ontario; Ashley and Edwin Boyce of Strathmore, Alberta; Kenneth, Kailee, and Gabriel Boyce of Calgary, Alberta; Cassidy Percy, Zoe and Sebastian Boyce of Onoway, Alberta; Ryan and Mya Nagle of Moncton, New Brunswick; Soren Matchett of Moncton, New Brunswick; brother Gary (Carrie) Stonehouse of Brantford, Ontario and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Vernon; daughter-in-law, Margaret; sister Jean McKay; brothers Albert, Kenneth, Percy, and Carvell McCormick and by her stepfather Ora Stonehouse.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia at a later date.
