Barley, Jack Wilfred - 88, Masstown, passed away November 7, 2016 in Colchester East Heath Centre, Truro. Born in Debert, he was the son of the late Fred and Nellie (Hayden) Barley. He is survived by daughters, Patricia Whiten, Toccoa, Georgia, Donna Durning (Mike Newby), Truro Heights; daughter in law, Ann Barley, East Mines, J. Stephen (Jodie) Kitchener, Ontario, James (Kelly) Westville, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; sisters in law, Jean Gordon, Shirley Smith and Kay Stewart, all of Great Village. Jack was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Mary E. Barley (Smith); son, Philip; daughter in law, Susan; sisters, Hilda Porter (Frank), Connie Wayte (Richard); brother, Frank (Murial); nephew, Robert Wayte; niece, Ann Gunther (Barley). Jack was employed with Brookfield (Scotsburn) for 37 Years as a Mechanic. He was a former member of the Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade, Debert Legion Branch # 106 and was a founding member and director of the Masstown Cemetery. He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Playing Crib and supporting the Blue Jays. The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their care of Jack. A Graveside Service and Interment for both Jack and his recently departed wife, Mary will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 2pm in Masstown Cemetery, Masstown. Family and friends are welcome to a time of celebration and sharing of memories following the service at Jack and Mary’s Home. Donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Letters of condolence may be sent to the home of Jack and Mary, Masstown, N.S.
