It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Barrett, age 89, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Hopkins) Chipman. Surviving are her children, Karen Pyke; son, Richard Barrett. Elsie is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jamie Pyke and Jeff Pyke (Ashleigh) and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Ryan. Besides her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her loving husband, Max and son-in-law, James Pyke. There will be no visitation or funeral service at Elsie’s request. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. In honoring Elsie’s request, a private family gathering and burial will take place at St Mary’s Anglican Cemetery, at a later date.
