We, the family of Karen Mary (Duprey) Gauchier, age 52, regret to announce her sudden passing from an automobile accident caused by a hereditary heart defect on Nov 8, 2016. Karen was born Dec 22, 1963 in New Waterford, NS and was residing in Edson Alberta, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Betty) and the late Albert (Bee) Duprey.
Karen liked to do paper mache and loved to travel unless she had to drive, one of her occasional stops with her husband Ed was at the casino where she liked to try her luck, she also loved to relax and play her games on the computer. While Living in Cape Breton Karen worked at Simeons Restaurant in New Waterford then the Peking Restaurant in Sydney for many years, wanting a change from waitressing she tried her hand at a call center where she made many friends before moving to Alberta. Upon arriving in Alberta Karen joined UA Local 92 and had worked as a laborer up to her passing. Karen is survived by her loving husband, Edward Gauchier, the love of her life; her beautiful daughter's, Nicole MacCormick and Kandice Duprey; step daughters, Keisha Desjarlais and Keira Gomuka; mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Duprey; sisters, Linda (Scott) Graham and Lynn Quigley; nieces, Lonita Graham, Ashley Brown, Melissa Quigley and nephews, Micheal Roach and Robbie Gillis; mother and father-in-law, Georgina and Lloyd Gauchier; sisters-in-law, Sherry Lynn (Larry) Gauchier, Shelly (Stanley Jr) Belcourt, Gloria (Bill) Desjarlais and best friend, Rachel Keigan, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by father, Albert (Bee) Duprey; brother, Albert Jr Duprey; paternal grandparents, Baptise and Cesarine Duprey, Henry and Julia Fougere; brother-in-law, David Quigley and Edwards brother, Lloyd (Son) Gauchier
Upon following Karen wishes a cremation has taken place and there will be a funeral service held on Thursday, Nov 17 at 11a.m. at the Marbourl Hall in Edson, Alberta. Online condolence www.edsonfuneralhome.com. At a later date a grave site service and luncheon will be help back in Cape Breton where Karen wanted to be buried alongside her Father and brother.
