Dennis 'Dinny' Deveaux

Dennis 'Dinny' Deveaux

Passed on: November 13th, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dennis `Dinny` Deveaux, 73, of New Waterford on Sunday, November 13, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born in New Waterford, Dinny was the son of the late Charles and Suzanne (Desveaux) Deveaux. Dinny is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Diane (MacIsaac); daughters, Denise (Maury) Medjuck and Suzanne (Graeme) Bali, both of Ottawa; sons, Denny (Raylene Conron), Ottawa, Brian (Kim), New Victoria. Dinny was the proud Grampy to Allison, Brett, Cameron, Brianna, Jackson, Gareth and Jasleen. He is survived by a brother, Reggie (Sara), Westmount and sister, Diane (Jerry) Landry, South Bar; brothers-in-law, Alex (Deanna) MacIsaac, Jack (Evelyn) MacIsaac and sister-in-law, Millie MacIsaac as well as many nieces and nephews and special neighbors, Johnny MacNeil and Cordell MacGillivary. Dinny was a meat cutter by trade and while he worked at various grocery stores over the years, for many a deer season he could be found in the little barn behind the house. Over the last number of years, Dinny and Diane looked forward to going to Indian Shores, Florida and spending time with their many friends from New Waterford and throughout Canada. But, his favorite pastime was sitting on the front step enjoying a cup of tea with Diane and the many friends and family members that would drop by to chat. Dinny was a kind man and would do anything for everyone. We all hoped he would have lived long enough to see the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup but in his own words ‘that would never F’in happen’. Special thanks to Drs. Azer and Crosby and the Palliative Care nurses for their support during this time. Also to Tommy MacNeil of the Cancer Patient Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for his care, compassion and assistance with all of our travels to and from Halifax. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford. All are welcome. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the An Cala Palliative Unit, the Cancer Patient Care Unit, both of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, or the Children at Risk in Ottawa. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
