MELNICK, Norman G.
Toney River
With heavy hearts the family of Norman Garfield Melnick, age 55, of Toney River, announce his sudden passing on November 18, 2016. He was the youngest son of the late Frank & Margaret (Payne) Melnick of Glace Bay. Besides his family, Norman’s greatest joy was hunting, fishing and playing guitar. On the water and in the woods were definitely his ‘happy place’. He worked in the fishing industry for many years, most recently with Northumberland Co-op. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbie (Bain); sons, Joey and Tony, at home; also siblings, John Payne-MacKinnon, Halifax; Billy, Toronto; Mary, Glace Bay; Anne McNamara, Pictou; Stella Sharpe, Helen Sharpe, Frankie and Ronnie, all of Glace Bay; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Johnny & Joey; sisters, Sheila and Wanda. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Monday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday from St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River, with Rev. Gregory Dickson officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the family. Special thanks to River John First Responders, EMS, Dr. Blois and Aberdeen ER Staff.
