Morley MacNeil, Age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2016, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site, Halifax.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Basil and Catherine (Carter) MacNeil. Morley was an active and lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43 in Port Hawkesbury and was also a member of the former Lion’s Club. Morley was a retired employee of Stora in Point Tupper. Morley’s grandchildren were his pride and joy, as well as were his children. Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Mary (Langley); daughter, Karen (Jeff) MacDonald and their children, Katie and Sarah, Creignish; son, Robbie (Cheryl) and their children, Brody and Eilidh, Prince George, BC; brother, Gary (Sis), Port Hawkesbury; sister-in-law, Brita MacNeil, Mira; nieces, Dawn, Darlene, Shauna and Shelley; nephew, Carter. He was predeceased by his brother, Basil Jr. The family would like at this time to give many thanks to the staff of the Dialysis Unit at the Strait Richmond Hospital and also to the Dr’s and nurses of Unit CCU 6.4 and the ICU 5.1 of the Halifax Infirmary for their professional and compassionate care towards Morley. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Service at 6:30 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury and from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with Father Hughie D. MacDonald officiating. A reception to follow in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury. Burial at a later date. Memorial donations in Morley’s memory may be made to the Dialysis Unit of Strait Richmond Hospital or to Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43 Poppy Fund.
