Stuart MacDONALD

MacDONALD, Stuart A.
Central Caribou

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Stuart Austin MacDonald, 70, of Central Caribou on Nov. 26, 2016 with his family by his side.
Born in Pictou, he was raised on the family farm where he lived and got his final wish of dying there. Stuart was the youngest of ten children to the late Austin & Margaret (Getson) MacDonald. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence, Kenneth, Arthur, Melville; sister, Charlotte; infant sister, Margaret and by his son, William.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beth; his children, Troy (Leslie) MacDonald, Pictou; Nadine (Paul Coulter) MacDonald, Leicester; Jodi (Richard) Thompson, Pictou; grandchildren, Brodie (Lauren Wright) Reid, Michaela (Stephen Bonvie) Reid, Richard (Belinda Rector) Thompson, Victoria (Nathan Shaw) MacDonald; and great-grandson, William Bonvie; sisters, Elizabeth Buckler, Truro; Sarah (Gerald) Langille, Caribou River; brother, Bill (Mary) MacDonald, Burford, Ontario.
Stuart was well known for his welding skills and work ethic. He took great pride in everything he did, and that included gardening. His greatest love, other than his wife and family, was hunting and fishing. He was a great friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. When away fishing he often came home with a bouquet of Lily of the Valley (for Beth), along with his catch. He loved life and fall was his favorite season, so it is fitting that it is this time of year that he leaves us. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday from Pictou United Church with reception to follow in the church hall. Interment following reception in Haliburton Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice. We wish to thank everyone who helped us through this very difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. Arron Smith, Dr. Farrell, Dr. Kwasnik, and over the last week, the nursing visits from the VON; and to our daughter Nadine and her nursing skills, which meant so much to her father during his last week of life.
