Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at Pleasant View Towers on November 26th, 2016, John Robert Butt, retired chief engineer with Marine Atlantic after almost 40 years at sea. He was predeceased by his parents James and Alma Butt. Leaving to mourn 6 children: Debbie Doyle (Chris), Wanda, Paul, Roger, Tamara Marshlack, Tanya Cushman (John); 8 grand-children: Laura (Shawn), Mathew (Tanya), Christopher (Rachelle), Chad (Sherry), Dylan, Rachael, Rylie and Mallory; as well as 5 great grand-children: Colby, Keira, Kasadie, Emberlie and Hunter. Sister Freda Winsor (Ralph) and nephew's Todd (Bev), Jason (Judy), Brother Tolson (Vina) and Nephews Greg and Steven (Daniella); also a large circle of other relatives, extended family and friends plus a special little mutt named Chance. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. The family is accepting visitors on Sunday, December 4 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday, December 5 at 1 p.m. Flowers gratefully accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
