John Robert Young of Riverview, formerly of New Glasgow, NS, passed away peacefully at Serenacare Nursing Home in Moncton on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, surrounded by family. John retired from CN following 35 years of service as a CN Rail Dispatcher. John attended St. Paul’s United Church in Riverview and was a member of the Coverdale Lodge Masons. John enjoyed gardening, growing his own vegetables and was a previous member of the Centennial Lawn Bowling Association.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Phyllis (Read). John was predeceased by his parents Harold and Elizabeth (Patterson) of Abercrombie, NS, as well two infant children, Lorelei Roberta and Raymond Scott.
A very special thank you to Susan Dickson and her amazing and compassionate staff at Serenacare. Your empathy, loving support and genuine thoughtfulness for both John and Phyllis has been greatly appreciated over the past three years.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (506-869-2007) on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 12pm to 1pm followed by a Masonic Service at 1pm by Coverdale Lodge #52 F & AM. A funeral service will follow the Masonic Service with Rev. Dr. Andrew O’Neill officiating. The interment will take place in Heatherdale Cemetery, Pictou, NS. Donations made to a memorial of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
