Passed on: December 11th, 2016
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of our loving mother. Mom passed away peacefully with her loving family beside her on December 11, 2016 at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Florence on December 18, 1935, she was the last surviving member of the family of James A Rose and Willhena (Slade) Rose. Although mom was Anglican, she attended the Salvation Army and was a member of the Home League. Mom, along with her mother and sister, worked tirelessly helping with the Red Shield Christmas Cheer & War Cries. Surviving her are her six children, Willhena, Mary Jane, Ann Frances (Fabian Jessome), James, Leonard (Corrine) and Emmaline (Stuart Rudderham); also sister-in-law, Ann Ryan of Mulgrave and brother-in-law, Carl (Marie) Boutilier of Sydney Mines. Also left to mourn are her 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband and our dad who spent 55 years together, Joseph ‘Boo’ Boutilier; her only sister, Emmaline and her brother-in-law, Donald LeRoy; granddaughter, Jonena Jessome; great grandson, Joshua Penny, and son-in-law, Alex Donovan. Special thanks to 4 West for your kindness, care and compassion for our mom. It didn’t go unnoticed. A big huge thank you to Dr. Michel McKeough and Sister Louise, for the loving care and kindness you’ve shown to our mom over the years. Mom loved you both dearly. Thank you Capt. Corey Vincent of the Salvation Army for your visits and prayers for mom. They were a great source of comfort. Visitation will be today from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Capt. Corey Vincent officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in mom’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army Christmas Cheer or The Alzheimer’s Society. Until we meet again.
