William Earl "Sonny"  Brown

The death of William Earl "Sonny" Brown, 84, of Joggins, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Thursday, December 8, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Born in Lower Cove, NS, he was a son of the late William and Roseanna (Legere) Brown.
To help support his family, Earl left school in grade six to work in the Joggins and River Hebert coal mines until their closure. Following he worked at Sifto Salt for over twenty-seven years until his retirement. In addition to that, throughout those years, he was a part-time fisherman.
Earl was very family focused. He enjoyed his time at his camp with his children, grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchldren. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved spending time at the beach or in the woods as well as relaxing to country music.
Despite his illness, Earl was always pleasant and quick with a joke and a smile. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Earl will be dearly missed by his wife of sixty-two years, Beulah (nee Dow); his children, Steward (Tammy), Calgary, James (Charlene), Amherst, Pam, Springhill, and Lawrence (Andrea), Lower Cove; nine grandchildren, Jamie, Lacey, Sunni, Dylan, Hayley, Brandon, Tyler, Jenna and Tyson; twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brothers, Clifford and Donald (Laura) Brown; a sister, Shirley Brown; a sister-in-law, Katherine Brown; a brother-in-law, Edward Palmer, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, James Joseph; brothers Austin and Robert (Kenetta); sisters, Edith (Aubrey) and Violet, and a sister-in-law, Annette.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777) from where a time of visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2 pm with a reception to follow.
Donations in memory of Earl may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
