It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, Trevor Frederick Smith, age 36, on Friday, December 30, 2016. Born in North Sydney on May 11, 1980, he was the youngest son of Nancy (Collier) Smith and the late Jack Smith. Trevor was a member of the Boilermakers Union, Local 73. He was an avid golfer and was known for his famous dance moves. Trevor was a big guy with an even bigger heart and gave the best bear hugs. He was a man of few words but always had a smile on his face and had his own sense of witty humor. He was the proud daddy to his two fur babies Sophie and Milo. Trevor enjoyed playing poker with the boys, spending time with friends and family, especially his dear niece, Addison, whom he adored.
Besides his mother Nancy, he is survived by his loving wife, Courtney (Matthews); his sister, Kerrianne and brother-in-law, Shawn Pike; nephew, Brady, Sydney; his brother, Jeff and sister-in-law, Alisha and precious niece and goddaughter, Addison Smith, Westmount; mother and father-in-law, Sandra and Charlie Matthews, Florence; maternal grandfather, Floyd Collier and Marie Rollins, North Sydney; his uncle, Gerald Smith, Halifax; aunts, Laura Smith, North Sydney and Donna Marie Collier, Sydney Mines; his great-aunt, Rose Trenchard, Toronto; his cousins; extended family and lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his father, Jack Smith; his maternal grandmother, Vivian Collier; paternal grandparents, Aubrey and Ada Smith; his uncle, Gordon Smith; aunt, Noreen Smith and cousin, Paul Smith. Visitation for Trevor will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, North Sydney with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Trevor may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com.
