Daughters of Joan Lenore Porter age 83 of Fenwick would like to share that Mom has completed her journey here on earth on Sunday, January 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the Northumberland Hall, Shannex, Amherst.
Born in London, ON. She was the only daughter of the late Robert and Beryl (Thompson) Trueman of Truemanville.
Mom could have been found baking, square dancing, quilting, playing cards and spending time at the beach with her daughters and grandchildren. She was a member of the Fenwick United Church and UCW.
Mom spent a lot of quality time having tea (peach wine) with family and friends.
Joan will be fondly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Layton; daughters Debbie (Robert) McKillop, Boundary Creek, NB, Heather (Gordon) Ripley, Fenwick, NS, Charlene (Bruce) Nelson, Port Howe, NS, Joanne (Jack) Menzies, Rusagonis, NB, son in-law Dave Richard, Amherst, NS; grandchildren Michelle (Jason) Wilband, Krista McKillop, Willis (Ginny) Ripley, Terry (Jessica Earle) Ripley, Denise (Dan) McComb, Christine (Chris Frank) Nelson, Sean (Heidi) Spicer, Daniel Spicer, Angela Spicer, Terran (Tim) Pitre, Kevin Menzies and Tammy Cameron; great grandchildren Addison, Alden, Colin, Austin, Jasmine, Josh, Matthew, Savanah and Chase; brother in-law Clayton Porter.
She was predeceased by her son Terry Ripley and daughter Peggy Spicer.
A service to celebrate the life of Joan will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 3 pm at the Fenwick United Church with Rev Marion Lloy officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in the Amherst Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst. 902-667-9906.
Donations may be made in Joan’s memory to the Fenwick United Church, Parkinson’s Society or to the charity of your choice.
