Carolyn Hughes-Myers

Passed on: December 21st, 2016

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Carolyn Hughes-Myers after a brief but valiant battle with metastatic melanoma. Carolyn passed at the Central Okanagan Hospice House December 21, 2016, surrounded by the love of family and close friends - her "circle of love and positivity".
Carolyn will be deeply missed by the two greatest loves of her life, her beautiful children Mackenzie and Ciara. Also mourning her loss is her loving and devoted mother Geri Roman, brother Mark (Sherry), nephews Erik, Dustin and Jordan, her special man Andy Stanton, dear friend Laurie Burns, dogs Coco and Mischief.
Carolyn was born January 18, 1961 in Carrot River, Saskatchewan. She spent her school age years in Moose Jaw, SK, moving to Saskatoon to attend the University of Saskatchewan where she received her degree in nursing. Carolyn's nursing career took her to various different provinces, but it was the beauty of the Okanagan Valley that brought her to her nursing position at Kelowna General Hospital. Carolyn became the ICU nurse educator at KGH, then moved over to the Professional Practice office as the Regional Knowledge Coordinator for Interior Health. She took great pride in her work and loved the wonderful people she worked with.
Carolyn was a 25-year member of the Eta Mu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of the professional women's book club. She was a past member of the B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation and past PAC president at Glenrosa Elementary School. Carolyn was an avid reader - she loved sitting on her deck with a good book and a cup of tea.
Carolyn was predeceased by her grandparents Hughes and Witkevich and her very dear Uncle Ronnie.
Carolyn was blessed to have so many dedicated friends from all areas of her life. They say you get back what you give and this journey showed all Carolyn had given unselfishly to others. They stepped forward to surround her with love and support, honouring her wish of never being alone day or night.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Central Okanagan Hospice House, B.C. Cancer Agency, Dr's Rao and Muhammed, friends and co-workers at Kelowna General Hospital and the Interior Health Professional Practice office, Eta Mu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Dr's Mace, Fisher and Docherty, for their care and compassion shown during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2pm at Hanson's Arbor Westwood Funeral Chapel, 2541 Churchill Rd, Westbank. Reception to follow. There will be a visitation Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 2 pm Hanson's Arbor Westwood Funeral Chapel.
Carolyn, you were an inspiration to so many. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
