It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Gloria Helen Boutilier, age 69, on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in North Sydney on June 22, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Mary Ellen
(Cordero) Tobin. Gloria was a member of St. Joseph Church in Bras d’Or. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards with her best friend Linda. Gloria loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed her “Saturday shopping”. She will be deeply missed.
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Angela (Todd) Jessome, Debbie (Victor) Pettipas, Theresa (Rae) Sampson, Vicki (Billy) MacDonald, Amanda Boutilier (Adam Reashore); her six grandchildren, Robbie (Jeannette) Pettipas, Michael (Niki) Boutilier, Jeffrey MacDonald, Kyle Jessome, Matthew Jessome, Emily MacDonald and one great-grandchild, Leni Ivey; two step great-grandchildren, MacKayla & Katie McLean. Also surviving are her brothers, Dave (Leona) Tobin, Ronnie (Sharon) Tobin, Russell (Kathy) Tobin; brothers-in-law, Keith (Gloria) Boutilier, Glen (Carol) Boutilier, Clayton (Paula) Boutilier, Peter (Corrine) Boutilier; sister-in-law and best friend, Linda Campbell and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Boutilier; her brothers, Joey, Dougie and Garfield Tobin; her sister, Audrey Tobin; father and mother-in-law, Roy and Eileen Boutilier; brothers-in-law, David Boutilier and Gerald Campbell.
Special thanks to her caregiver Marina Brown, to the staff on 4East at the Northside General Hospital and 4th floor Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.
Visitation for Gloria will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating.
A burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Palliative Care of Cape Breton. Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com .
