Born January 14, 1932 at 86 Edward Street in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Bonnie left a significant footprint on this planet through her family and her friends. She was the seventh child of Ralph Emmons and Isobel (Leslie) Dingwell (deceased). Bonnie attended Bangor, Saint Peters and Prince Street schools. While living in Bangor, she met her husband James (Jim) Judson MacEachern. They were married on September 15, 1949. Together they had 11 children: Janice (deceased) (Percy) Simmonds; Carilyn (Dan) MacIsaac, Marilyn (Cary) Veach; Leslie (Valerie MacLeod); Gael (Sean Ferris), Elspeth, Franklin (Jennifer Ann); Ian (Betty Czuk); Allan (Janice MacCallum); Bonnie (Derek Burns); David (Triona Harrop) and Lorna MacPhail. Bonnie is grandmother of 26 Grandchildren: Jamie MacIsaac; Menna MacIsaac (Jamie Dickie ; Kali Simmonds (Pat Morris); Elias Simmonds (Arooj Cheema); Nara Simmonds (Josh Weale); Janson Simmonds (Laura Moore); Keslie MacEachern (Patrick O’Connell); Katya MacEachern; Larissa MacEachern (Matt Carter); Alexandra MacEachern; Megan Ferris; Tate Ferris; Chloe Sutcliffe-MacEachern (Andrew Costa); Annie MacEachern; Emma MacEachern (Sadia MacDonald-Strand); Isaac MacEachern; Tillie MacEachern; Mistaya Veach; Jasper Veach (Makayla); Sophie Burns; Sebastian Burns; Simon Burns; Hannah Burns; Conor, Declan and Seamus MacEachern.Very proud Great Grandmother of 17 Great Grandchildren: Seth, Nigel, Finn, Kip, Eve and Wren Morris, Jack, Luke and Maeve Dickie; Lily, Zinnia, Zephyr and Ealon Simmonds; Olive and Pete O’Connell; Kai Weale and Benjamin Veach. She is survived by sister Davida (Bob) Hurry, her many Dingwell nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Thelma, Hope, Waldo, Helen, Athol, John and Harris. Bonnie thrived, loved and lived in her communities throughout her lifetime. She sang beautifully and joyfully at her church and school concerts in Morell as a young woman. She moved into their family home to provide live in care for her Aunties Mary and Anne as a young teenager. She was a brilliant scholar and pursued lifelong learning even as she raised her family. She was a fierce defender of community, humanity and all God’s creatures. She gave with a generous heart that had no bounds, no judgement and no end. Her love, grit and grace lives on in the legacy of the people she nurtured and cherished. Donations in Bonnie’’s honour can be directed to Pat and the Elephant who provided a pumpkin coach to get her to her family events over the past few years, the PEI Humane Society or a local charity of your choice. Visitation at Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday January 7, 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church in Charlottetown.
