IAN FERGUSON ALLAN
July 9, 1933 – January 10, 2017

Ian Allan passed away peacefully at his home in his favourite chair at the age of 83. He is survived by his children Heather (Gary) Ellis, Doug (Robyne), Janice and her daughter Aimee (Eric) Anderson and great-granddaughter Zerra, Greg and his children Thomas and Ashlie, David, Catharine (Curtis) Kosowan and their sons Tyson and Carter; his wife Arlene Salen and her children Jeremy and Dixie Kenney, and Sohmer (Kelly) Cheney and their children Julian, Vahn and Lola; as well as many nieces and nephews all of whom were very special to him. He was the last surviving member of his generation of the Allan clan. Ian was born on the family farm in Viscount, SK where worked alongside his father Jock and his mother Madge; his brothers Robert and Jim and his sister Enid. He worked as an electrician to put himself through school to become a draftsman and engineer. He was a surveyor and eventually a district engineer for Saskatchewan Department of Highways for 35 years. He spent his years working throughout the southern part of the province where he met the mother of his children Marilyn Zerr and many of his good friends before settling in Prince Albert and raising his family. He was active in many sports as well as coaching. He loved hunting and fishing but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. When he retired he moved to Candle Lake where he met Arlene Salen. We will miss his sense of humour, his soft heart and sharp tongue. Friends may pay their respects at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at River Park Funeral Home. Ian’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at River Park Funeral Home, Pastor Nora Vedress officiating. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home in Prince Albert, SK, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
